I just found out about this site and ya'lls annual Rally. I joined and am planning on coming down. I am assuming this is a family type event ???? I seen some posts about bringing kids. I called Bob and the cabins are definitely all taken. I will be bringing a tent or pop-up camper. I think it will still be pretty warm. What ya'll think about a generator to run A/C for the family. Bad idea? Noisy? Anyone know from previous experience if others bring generators??

I plan on bringing my wife, 2,7,and 9 year old kids. If not kid friendly, then will work something out I'm sure !

I have a 1989 13' Lowsider and live in South Hillsborough County. I fish the flats of Tampa Bay mostly and also my community lake and slay the BASS too Smile

Kids are more then ok, call the camp back and ask about a tent site with power then you do not need to run a generator.

Bring a 200ft ext cord. Maybe you'll be close enough to one of our houses or another structure that is wired with power...

We will be glad to have you and your family at our rally it is a lot of fun. And if you don't mind please call Bob back and ask about the Gen, and for electrical hook up. We have never held our rally in this location and although everyone there is really nice we should ask before doing. Wink
And don't pay any attention to "flyfshrmn82" he be from Alaska they take each others electricity all the time.

If anyone has any questions about the rally or the surrounding area that have not been addressed yet, ask now because I will be going over there next weekend and meeting with Bob the manager I will take the list and get your answers.

Carol and I are taking our Motor Home and like the campers we would like to know about paying for Electric while we are there and if there is no electric what are the rules for a generator.

Thank you for the organization and follow through on this project.

We look foward to seeing you at the Rally.

Tom and Carol

Everyone pretty much leaves when they get around to it.

It says on the Glades Haven web site that they have an "easy access" boat ramp, does that mean there is one nearby or is the ramp on property? Does it cost extra to leave your boat in the water at the dock? Based on your knowledge of the area is it better to put your boat up on a trailer at the end of the day?

Thanks for all your work in putting this together.

There is a private ramp on property. If I remember correctly there is also 1 slip per cabin (?) or per house. SkinnyDippin can confirm that. I'll be putting my boat to bed every night on the trailer...

As of last spring when I stayed there.... boat ramp on property and in good condition. One dock slip per cabin although 2 gheenoes may be able to fit in one slip. Docks show age and do not have power (bring a very long power cord). I put my boat on the trailer every night and charged batteries via power cord plugged into the outlet on the screen porch. (I was very leary of leaving my boat in the water due to no power, possible damage to boat from dock and possible theft by the local crackheads).

Thanks...you nailed it that exactly was the information I was looking for. Thanks for the advice on the electrical cord.

I would not worry about theft, I was told by the manager that they have no problems with that sort of thing. I personally will be putting my boat on the trailer only becouse of the severe tides. They can be as much as 5ft that would be a lot of barnacles up against the side of your boat.
