So...this evening I mentioned to my wife that I'd be "unavailable" on the 12th, as I'm planning to head to the rally. I told her this much in the same way I tell her of upcoming fishing trips. Here's a transcript:

Me: "Don't plan anything involving me on the 12th."
Her: "We're meeting my sister and family in Daytona that day, at the beach." (I forgot they were visiting from Georgia that weekend, doh!)
Me: Silent stare
Her: "You don't have to come if you don't want to."
Me: "Ok, I probably won't then." (Yes!)
Her: Silent stare
Me: Grab remote and start flipping channels

So, I won't be getting any for awhile, but I'm seemingly in the clear for the rally. Very Happy

PS - If I seem a bit high strung that day, you'll know why. Wink

Just an FYi for those like me who aren't camping;

I called the park today and was told that the registration office doesn't open until 8am, and it closes at 9pm everyday. So, unless you get there before 9pm the night before, you won't have access to the ramp until after 8am.

I was planning to drive down late, sleep in my truck for a couple hours, then launch and fish at first light, before coming back and hanging out for awhile. It doesn't sound like that plan will work anymore... Rolling Eyes

There is a ramp at the inlet but you have to pay like $10 (not sure on the price, but you're better off putting in at Long Point)

Last time I was a Long Point I wanted to put in at the Wabasso Island ramp. That area looks very fishy. Its about 15 - 20 minutes further south.

You could also check what time Honest Johns Fish Camp opens. They are 2 or 3 miles north of Long Point and might be open in the mornings.

I've used the ramps at the Sebastian Inlet State Park a bunch of times (on chartered boats, not mine). There are three nice ramps available, and it's just on the south side of the inlet. I think the park is open 24x7 too, but I'll have to double check that.

I am now thinking about launching from there at dawn, and coming to Long Point by water instead of land. I'm just leery of the weekend crowds there, as it's a major ramp for the inlet traffic. Confused

Honest Johns sounds better. He is a NOE guy and I have seen some of the weekenders at the inlet not sure I would leave my car there now that I think of it.

whats the ramp like at Honest Johns ?
